Waste Her Time 2016: TWD Spoiler Alert

Season 6, Episode 7, we thought it was over. We were tricked into believing Glenn Rhee was eaten alive beneath a dumpster on a supply run, and never to be seen again. The Walking Dead brought Glenn back to the show, alive as ever later that season. First episode of Season 7 aired last Sunday and he’s been killed off again, for good this time.

There are theories as to why The Waking Dead producers chose to kill off Glenn twice. The first being, Glenn Rhee dying beneath a dumpster in the next town over did not stick to the original comic’s storyline in the slightest. The next being that it was a completely pathetic and bogus way for such a hardcore character to die, the man saved Rick Grimes from a zombie swarm from the top of an Atlanta building in the first season for crying out loud. There is also the theory that Glenn was raised from the dead by popular demand of the heartbroken fan base, before finally being put to death the way the original story had written out. According to Forbes writer, Alan St. John, The Walking Dead had no choice but to kill off the show’s greatest character, “Why? Because Glenn was–and is–simply the show’s best character. The most real. The most grounded. And the one who’s journey was both the most familiar and the most profound.”

We had ten more episodes with Glenn, before The Walking Dead‘s new bad guy in town, Negan, smashed his head in for three long, heartbreaking minutes in front of the entire camp, including his pregnant wife. Every fan has “shipped” Glenn and Maggie since Season 3, and if they didn’t, it’s because they don’t watch the show. Maggie was pregnant with Glenn’s baby, and had to watch the love of her zombie-apocalypse-life brutally die.

Twitter memes say it best: “Get her pregnant, and die. Waster her time 2016.”
