Hard to Deny How Great Denial Was

“The freedom of speech means you can say whatever you want. What you can’t do is lie and expect to not be accountable for it,” says actress Rachel Weisz, who plays Jewish-American writer and historian Deborah E. Lipstadt in Denial, a new drama film. An inspiring woman trying to point out the truth behind the Holocaust. Based on a true English court case lasting from 1996 to 2000, a Holocaust denier David Irving (Timothy Span), sued Lipstadt for her book Denying the Holocaust for libel. Lipstadt fought along side her defense team, led by Anthony Julius (played by Andrew Scott), against Irving to prove her justification.

Though the movie seemed to go by very fast, the actors and actresses did a great job, and played their roles very well. When it comes to movies about history, I’m not usually interested in them, but this one captivated me.

The movie came out on October 21, 2016 and has gotten a 79% on Rotten Tomatoes. So far, over all the movie has received $3.8 million, and is gaining more by the minute. The film made many great points and statements provided throughout the movie made it suspenseful and informational, as well as the actors and actresses. If you are someone who is truly a fan of history this is a movie to see.
