Senior Q & A with Riley Conklin

Lily Merritt, Opinion Editor

Q: What has been your best memory at Sahuaro?

A: Homecoming, both the game and the dance, sophomore year. I had been home-schooled my whole life, so it was the first school dance I had ever been to. I also love to dance, and being able to do that with my friends made it that much better.

Q: Name one of your favorite teachers at Sahuaro, and why?

A: Ms. De Pugh. Her class and attitude was amazing, and she always pushed me to be the best.

Q: What are your plans after high school?

A: Attending college, hopefully Stanford. It’s always been a dream of mine to go to a top college, especially out of state. Their programs and opportunities seem to fit my desires, plus it provides me with a nice challenge in order to be admitted. Also it’s in a great location, so that’s a benefit as well.

Q: What are three fun facts about you?

A: I can break an apple in half with my hands, I can drink an entire water bottle in 2 seconds, and I love Family Feud.

Q: What’s your motto in life?

A: “Keep running.” or “Rule #1, never be #2.”

Q: Name three of your idols/icons?

A: Britney Spears, Ali Krieger, and Sharon Needles.

Q: If you could go back and change one thing about your high school career, what would it be?

A: Get more involved with clubs and community service. I could have made more friendships and it looks better on applications. It seems like everyone else has been so involved that it puts me at a disadvantage when it comes to experience and standing out.

Q: Give your freshman-self advice in ten words or less.

A: Get more involved, have more fun, and be yourself.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 15 years?

A: Hopefully a successful political adviser or head of a nonprofit.

Q: What do you feel has been/will be your legacy left here at Sahuaro?

A: Hopefully that I was a hardworking, determined student.

Q: What was the worst/most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you during your time at Sahuaro?

A: I fell walking up the stairs. When I tried to save myself, I ended up making myself look even worse.
