Thank You, Mr. Marrs

(So Awesome You Get Two!)

Thank+You%2C+Mr.+Marrs

Jade Bridges and Mason Carr

Someone who will always remember your name,
Gets in your business and sees your true potential,
But never treats one student the same.
He spends all his time helping students,
being nothing but influential.

He booms with laughter, always smiling,
Always teasing, always creating new handshakes.
Playing guitar and piano
Showing us what it takes to be great.
Tells us weekends are important
And to live everyday to the fullest
Even when they’re the dullest.

He learns along with you,
And teaches what we want to learn.
Could play any instrument, even the kazoo.
Shows support and concern
For anyone willing to learn.

Mr. Marrs always losing his keys,
Always losing note sheets,
Can change your entire day with making jokes and running around,
Being a teacher in his own way.

One could say
The gratitude is implicit-musical, even
With sound echoing
Imperfectly, imperfectly, imperfectly-
And then not

Something clicks
Something flows
We all have that feeling-
Individual notes like fingers
Running down our spines in cascade

One could say
The gratitude is implicit- musical, certainly
With notes flowing
Imperfectly, imperfectly, imperfectly-
And then not

Something leaps
Something rights
And we have you, your hand-
Guiding us in space
Learning to speak an intangible language

One could say the gratitude is implicit-
Yet it’s not
You’re our Prometheus-
Ingratitudes building an eagle
Feasting on your works

And gratitude breaks chains
Makes you free-
Free as the music you teach,
Free as the rise of color and sound
Buried in the sunset

So at last–
The unspoken token speaks
The things implicit
The thanks ungiven
The truest notes of freedom
