Taylor Swift is hitting headlines in a way she never has before. Swift claims she was groped by former radio DJ Mueller back in June of 2013. According to CNN, she said, “He stuck his hand under my skirt and grabbed my a**”. The incident occurred backstage at a meet and greet at Denver’s Pepsi Center. SW\sift immediately told her mom, who reported it to his boss, who did his own little investigation, who then fired him.  Swift’s attorney Doug Baldrige argued the incident had in fact occurred, and that Mueller was only suing for money and fame, he says he was suing because she ruined his career . During the trial Taylor fought back saying that what he did was not her fault, and that she was being wrongfully accused of the unfortunate happenings of his life that were his and his fault only. She feels as if she is representing the victims of sexual assault and making a statement that it is not something people should be ashamed of. Swift countersued Mueller for $1 for “intentionally assaulting” her.  Taylor won and he lost, thus owing her one dollar, but that’s not the point.

Swift later stated that she will be donating money to organizations who help survivors of sexual assault. “I acknowledge the privilege that I benefit from in life, in society and in my ability to shoulder the enormous cost of defending myself in a trial like this,” she said. “My hope is to help those whose voices should also be heard. Therefore I will be making donations in the near future to multiple organizations that help sexual assault victims defend themselves.”
