For many years, the dreaded topic of school lunches has plagued school districts around the nation. Even at Sahuaro, school lunch is a bubbling topic.

The popular opinion of the school lunch has always been that it is gross. The food you can get includes salad, burgers, pizza, chicken sandwiches, enchiladas, and much, much more. We already have a variety of different kinds of food for different days, but do students really enjoy it?

Connor Fries, fellow editor for The Paper Cut, and I, Jocelyn Reeder, went around during 1st lunch to ask students how they really feel about the school lunches.

Jasmine Varelas, a senior, reported, “It’s gross, but I don’t have enough time in the morning to make my own lunch. I mostly get the pizza.” We did a survey and 221 students were in favor of a snack bar and 122 students were in favor of having a better variety of food. And this was just in 1st lunch.

Celeste Moquin, also a senior, reported, “Only the burgers are good.”

Senior, Myely Martin told us, “The special line has all the good food.” Most of the students at Sahuaro said that the burgers are the better deal than the rest of the options available at lunch.

Unfortunately, both of the vending machines are turned off during lunch so you are unable to buy food.

Many of us agree that if we had a snack bar, it would solve many problems. It would not only benefit the students, but the cafeteria staff as well.
