OJ Simpson Released After Nine-Year Sentence

Deartis Mason, Sports Recorder

O.J. was released from prison on October 2nd after serving 9 years in Nevada State Prison. People are confused on what crime he was convicted for.  Murdering his wife and her friend?  Nope. Supposedly he and a group of men went into a Las Vegas hotel in September of 2007 “to retrieve sports memorabilia that he claims was stolen from his home in 1995.”  Simpson was arrested and convicted of: conspiracy to commit a crime, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, conspiracy to commit robbery, burglary while in possession of a deadly weapon, two counts of first-degree kidnapping with a deadly weapon, two counts of robbery with use of a deadly weapon and two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

On Oct. 3, 2008, exactly 13 years after he was acquitted in his murder trial, Simpson was sentenced to a total of 33 years of prison, but they made an agreement of at least nine years of prison and then parole.

Simpson says that he is not going to hide from all of his friends, even though it might be a little weird. Rumors say that Simpson is going to be living inside a gated community with some private friends and he plans on moving to Florida later on. OJ has two children that live in the Tampa Bay area in Florida, one lives in Las Angeles, and one in Georgia. He says that he wants to change his life around and be a better person.
