Heroism in Vegas

Heroism+in+Vegas

The shooting in Las Vegas has been devastating, but the unity that has come out of such a tragic event has been incredible. Rather than focusing on the life of the attacker, we should put the brave heroes in the spotlight.

Hundreds of people have donated blood to blood banks for the 500 plus victims of the shooting; not only are the locals of Vegas donating blood, but the United Blood Services are also receiving donations from a various number of different banks across the country. According to the blood services, the banks are still, however, in need of O negative and O positive blood.

There is also a Go Fund Me page that was set up by Steve Sisolak, The Clark County commission chair of Las Vegas, that has raised over 4 million dollars. The goal was initially set at 500 thousand, which was surpassed within just three hours of the page being set up. Over 2,300 people have donated to this noble cause. According to the page, the money is set to “provide relief and financial support to the victims and families of the horrific Las Vegas mass shooting.”

While the shooting was tragic, it’s reassuring to see how much people around the world can come together and really care about one another.
