Halloween is a fun time where you can hang out with friends and family while consuming your own weight in candy. That being said, why shouldn’t our four-legged friends be allowed to engage in the fun too? Fear not mortals, there are plenty of pet-friendly activities you can do this year around town.

Oro Valley is holding their fourth annual “Doggie Dash ‘N Dawdle” which will be on October 28th from 9am to 12pm. It will include a one and two mile walk (or run if your dogs aren’t lazy like mine) and a festival with fun canine crafts, a doggy costume contest and free dog-friendly items.

A quicker option is to come by PAWSH at La Encantada with your pooch (with a costume, of course) to get a free doggie bag, a picture and a coupon. The event will be held on October 28th from 5pm to 8pm. Besides the fun of bonding with your pet, you’d be surrounded by other cute dogs so what’s not to love?

On October 29th, Fourth Avenue will be holding a contest for both dogs and their human companions. There will be prizes, giveaways, dog treats and trick-or-treating. If you’re up for a good time and want to twin with your furry friend for some prizes, make sure to stop by from 5pm to 8pm.

If you aren’t necessarily a Halloween fanatic or are busy for the rest of the month preparing your haunted house, there will be an event called Dogtoberfest on November 5th. There will also be a costume contest, raffles, obstacle courses and paw painting. The best part? It will all benefit a non-profit organization called Handi-dogs which allows senior citizens or people with disabilities to help make their dog into a service animal.

So, instead of doing the typical trick-or-treating, why not go with a few friends and their pets to some of these awesome events?
