Hands-Free Ordinance Grace Period Over

Using your phone without hands-free equipment while driving your car is now a primary offense in Tucson. The City council approved the changes in late January, and went into effect February first. Now, Tucson Police can legally pull over offenders and fine them since March 2nd.

A grace period of 30 days was issued after the changes were put in effect, giving perpetrators and civilians a warning before the law took full affect. People who violate these new changes will now face a first time fine of $50, and second time offenders will face a fine of $100.
