A bizarre story gets even more bizarre.  On Thursday, April 12, 45-year-old Steven Pladl, previously accused of having a child with his daughter, Katie, murdered his son/grandson, Bennett, his daughter/wife, and her adopted father. Katie got involved with her father after she tracked down her biological parents.  In 1995, Steven Pladl was 20 when he met a 15-year-old girl named Alyssa on the internet. She soon became pregnant and gave birth to a girl.  Young and poor, they have her up for adoption when she was eight months old. After turning 18 in January 2016, Katie found her birth parents.  Instead of going to college in August 2016, Katie moved in with the Pladls.  Alyssa Pladl told Katie privately that Steven Pladl had abused her as a baby and that a major reason for the adoption was her own safety.

The couple married in July of 2017, and Bennett was born that September. Katie ended the relationship, which, according to his mother, is what caused Steven to kill their son. He had been released from prison on a bond, and was prohibited from seeing Katie. The night before the homicide, Pladl picked up his son, Bennett, to watch him; Bennett was later found dead in Steven and Katie’s old home. The next day, he drove to Connecticut and fatally shot both Katie and her adopted father, before driving back to New York and shooting himself. He had informed his mom of his plans after confessing to killing Bennett, and she then informed the local authorities, but was unsuccessful in preventing the murders.
