The jaw-dropping event that occurred on April 18th, 2018 has people mourning over the death of Jennifer Riordan. Riordan was 43 years old and was heading home to her family from Dallas and, next thing you know, half of her body was exposed and outside the plane. “If you can possibly imagine going through the window of an airplane at about 600mph (965km/h), and hitting either the fuselage or the wing with your body, with your face…I can probably tell you that there was significant trauma to the body,” said a woman named Peggy who tried to save Riordan.

Her fatal injuries were caused when she was sucked through a window while other passengers attempted to drag her back in. She was the one out of 149 terrified passengers that received fatal injuries from this sudden event. One of the twin engine fan blades tore off and debris shattered the window next to Riordan. Ultrasonic inspections are being done on over 700 planes and 1-2% of the flights would be cancelled considering these circumstances. The airline, however, said, “We anticipate minimal delays or cancellations each day this week due to the inspections.” This event was the first fatality to occur in 9 years.

CNN reported that her husband, Michael, stated, his wife was “kind, loving, caring and sharing,” Michael Riordan said he’s going to remember those qualities because that’s how he and their two children will get through the grief.
The couple was together for nearly 30 years, and Michael Riordan said his wife will always be with him.
“It’s the love affair that will never end, because no one can take her from my heart and no one can take her from our family,” he said.
