This school year Sahuaro High School is starting a new evening meal program. Every day from Monday to Friday starting at 3:45 til 5:45  the Cougar Café (aka the cafeteria) will be open and offering free meals for TUSD students. This also includes parents. Mr. Cephers agrees that this is a good meal plan, however meals are served throughout most students’ practice times, defeating the purpose. “They would only be able to go and have about 15 minutes to eat, and then go change for practice. And some of our athletes wouldn’t even get a chance to eat because practice starts straight after school.” However athletes could benefit from these free meals on Thursdays before big home games.

Not only does this benefit athletes, but also students who stay at school late with extracurricular activities, students with 7th period, club members, or even teachers can enjoy a meal.

The menu for TUSD meals changes every month, and this is what TUSD has to offer for the month of September:

Every Monday (September 10, 17, 24): Spicy Chicken Tenders, offered with a Corn Muffin, along with Refried Beans, Apple Slices, and Milk

Every Tuesday (September 4, 11, 18, 25): Lasagna Roll Up, offered with a Garlic Knot, along with Broccoli Parmesan, a Peach Cup, and Milk

Every Wednesday (September 5, 12, 19, 26): Hot Dog, offered with Roasted Potatoes, Apple Slices, and Milk

Every Thursday (September 6, 13, 20, 27): Szechuan Meatballs, offered with Broccoli Parmesan, Watermelon, and Milk

Every Friday (September 7, 14, 21, 28): Bean and Cheese Burrito, offered with Baby Carrots and Ranch Dip, Frozen Mango-Strawberry 100% Fruit Juice Cup, and Milk
