Clemson Stuns Alabama Again

What was supposed to be a game for the ages, turned out to be a massive blowout as the Clemson Tigers routed the Alabama Crimson Tide on Monday January 7th. Clemson quarterback Trevor  Lawrence was pretty much flawless as he was 20-32 with 347 yards and three touchdowns. With the victory over Alabama, Clemson finished off a perfect season and is the first team to go 15-0 since 1897.

The game got off to a fast start as on Alabama’s first drive, quarterback Tua Tagovailoa threw an interception that went for a touchdown. After the game, Dabo Swinney said, “I mean, our guys had the eye of the tiger, but I’m so proud, and then for our seniors to be able to go out 15-0 and truly be the best ever — there was a lot of talk about best ever all year long, we were never in that conversation.” Clemson also became the first team to beat Alabama head coach Nick Saban by 14 points.

“One game doesn’t define who you are,” Saban said. “But I also told the players that sometimes we learn more when things don’t go well, when we lose.” Saban has developed Alabama into a team that is in a championship or bust state of mind and they are always heavy favorites to win the championship year in and year out. Clemson came to play and that showed when Alabama made some gutsy decisions that cost them more than helped them, like a fake field goal that Clemson was ready for and then resulted in a Clemson touchdown three plays later.

With the victory, Clemson are now the favorites to win the 2020 championship and are now the #1 team in the nation.
