Puerto Rico’s Worst Earthquake in 102 Years!

Puerto Ricos Worst Earthquake in 102 Years!

Odyssey Larsen, Beat Investigator

Disaster has struck Puerto Rico again. After the tragic effects of Hurricane Maria in September of 2017 that left thousands homeless and without necessary resources, just as the nation was rebuilding and starting to be okay again, another disaster strikes.

This earthquake reached a whopping 6.4 magnitude  – the worst earthquake experienced by that region since 1918. This horrible tragedy not only affected Puerto Rico, but also the Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Saint Martin, Saint Maarten, Guadeloupe, Haiti, Montserrat, Saint Kitts, Nevis, Turks and Caicos Islands, U.S. Virgin Islands, Netherland Antilles, Saint Barthélemy, Antigua and Barbuda, and Anguilla. The hurricane struck at 1:24 AM on January 7th, 2020, uprooting thousands of lives. Among all the destruction, school houses and buildings all along the southern coast are in ruin with many injured and at least one dead. The United States is sending over help to get power, water, and shelter back to those without it in Puerto Rico.
