Oscar Winning Style at the Academy Awards

Judeia Holladay, Reporter

Fashion at the Oscars is always a sight to see, with some celebrities continuously pushing their personal style, like pop star Billie Eilish in her over-sized tweed Chanel suit, or Billy Porter in his loud and feminine dress by Giles Deacon. From bold and experimental, to the Hollywood traditional, there are looks for every taste.

11. Anthony Ramos (Honorable mention)
Anthony Ramos (Honorable mention)

Actor and singer Anthony Ramos was the only male to make the cut for my styling rankings this year. Unfortunately, he just missed the list but was rightfully included as he stylishly dawned his all Dolce and Gabbana ensemble with bold yet chic styling that D&G is so acclaimed for. Ramos can be seen pictured in a two-piece suit with his all-white blazer serving as just one of several accents for his more toned down and traditional black trousers and dress shirt. Clearly Ramos was not lacking in his accessories game either as one ultra gaudy chain ornate with precious gems, metals, and letters hangs so low on him that it’s closer to his stomach than to his chest adding perfectly in step with the D&G design philosophy presented by Ramos with his outfit. Last but not least Ramos, has on a pair of loafers studded with metallic-like spikes that give his outfit an overall aggressive edge that pulls everything together.

10. Caitriona Balfe
Caitriona Balfe

Outlander Caitriona Balfe is in a black strapless body tight dress that flares at the knee with several large ruffles following below, adding depth to her look. In addition, she is wearing a semi-transparent soft pink blouse tied together neatly in a bow at the shoulder. Her overall silhouette appeared as though it was a black candle dripping down with pearl-like pink wax. As if to match her sleek black dress Caitriona put her hair back with some sizable diamond earrings and blood-red lipstick to complete her fabulous look.

9.Erin Lim
Erin Lim

Erin Lim is in Kim Kassas couture; her dress is a deep emerald green with a single strap running across her body giving the appearance of an almost wrap around her torso. She has a thigh-high cut out in her dress to reveal her matching heels. The corset of her dress in a contrasting white with vertical lines running up and down her adding dimension to her look.

Florence Pugh is in Louis Vuitton, wearing a stunning light blue metallic dress that billows from her belt sitting high on her waist in the same color. The lines from the straps of her dress and high heels along with the many countless furbelows cascading down her dress move the viewers eye around her outfit like that of a critic examining fine art. Her dress managed to look refined and stand out at the same time with details such as her interesting silver necklace and teal belt putting her even more over the top and ahead of a lot of the other celebrities on the red carpet.
