Lionel Messi is a professional soccer player who plays for FC Barcelona, 2nd in the Laliga League and a very popular team around the world. They have multiple academies located in the U.S.; there is even a Barcelona academy in Casa Grande. They are one of the best competing teams in Spain and in their league.  

On February 5th, Messi’s contract was leaked to the world. They are still getting into details who leaked it; they have five suspects on who leaked it and Messi will be taking it to court. The amount of money that Messi is getting paid is over six hundred million dollars. In comparison, LeBron James earns $39.22 million/year.  A lot of people are wondering why someone would leak all this information. The question is: how are professional athletes going to react? Are they going to be asking for more than what they earn? Messi is earning $265 dollars every minute. A lot of haters are saying that he doesn’t deserve the amount that he is earning for just the 4 years that he has left for FC Barcelona. 

Messi is one of the most sought-after athletes of the last decade. Even if Messi doesn’t win a trophy with Barcelona, he is still one of the best players in the league  – with the amount of hard work and dedication he has put into his team, he still deserves the amount he is getting for those four years. We will see how other athletes react to the amount Messi is making.
