Earlier this week there was a spiteful attack on an elderly Asian woman that left her injured and having to go to the hospital. During broad day light in Midtown Manhattan on Monday March 29 an elderly women was kicked and stomped on by a man who was yelling anti-Asian statements. The attack happened on a sidewalk outside of an apartment building on West 43rd Street. Surveillance cameras showed the man violently kicking the woman as she falls to the ground and continued to kick her many times.

In that surveillance video it also showed that there was another person inside of the apartment building that was just standing there watching, but did nothing to stop the attack or to even help the woman up after. After the attacker was done beating the woman, the person that was just watching the attack happen just closes the building door as the attacker walks away casually.

The Brodsky Organization, which is the organization that manages the apartment building, released a statement saying that a staff member has been suspended while this incident is under investigation. They are also working on identifying another person who is a third party delivery vendor who also witnessed the incident happen but failed to help.

Brandon Elliot, 38, was arrested at 1:10 a.m. Wednesday in Manhattan, the NYPD said in a statement shared with The Washington Post, and charged with felony assault as a hate crime. Elliot was convicted of murder in 2002.
