Wednesday afternoon, on September 28, rapper Coolio sadly died. The fire department was called for the 2900 block of South Chesapeake Ave at 4 in the afternoon. They reported him dead at 5 pm from cardiac arrest. The 90’s rapper was a great artist. most well-known for his signature song, Gangsta’s Paradise, with over a billion plays on YouTube and Spotify. He started his career in the late 80s, first writing Fantastic Voyage which put him there. For the song Gangsta Paradise, he won a Grammy in 1996. Coolio was a great rapper and a legend to many. He had made appearances on t.v. shows such as Kenan and Kel and his contribution to the album Dexter’s Laboratory. He even had a show of his own on Oxygen called Coolio’s Rules that aired in 2008. Coolio was a great man some people would say.

He won a lot of Grammys and awards in his life. It is very sad to see him die when he had so much life left; Coolio died at the age of 59. He had a wife and kids and he was a son and brother. Coolio moved in his 20s to live with his father to help him overcome his addiction to crack. He performed with groups like WC and other groups before going solo. Coolio signed with Tommy Boy Records and made an independent rap label. Back in 2018, he said, “People would kill to take my place.” With all the great moments and songs he had, he will forever be remembered.
