Celebrities Should Not Speak About Their Political Views.

Celebrities Should Not Speak About Their Political Views.

Recently, many celebrities have been taking advantage of their captive audiences to speak up about their views on the Presidential Debate and Trump’s actions since taking office January 20th. Celebrities like Ashton Kutcher, Madonna, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Meryl Streep and so many more have something to say, whether at an awards shows or recently, the Women’s March.

At the Women’s March Madonna infamously stated, ” I thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House.” Many people at the Women’s March were angry. According to cbsnews.com, Trump replied to Madonna saying: ” Honestly, she’s disgusting. I think she hurt herself very badly. I think she hurt that whole cause.” Madonna is looked up to by millions of fans. Her saying this could cause more riots and even ruin her reputation as a star. According to 640tornoto.com, Madonna is banned from radio station HITS 105 in Texarkana, Texas.

At the SAG Awards that happened on January 29th, Ashton Kutcher and Julia Louis-Dreyfus went on stage after receiving their awards, and talked about politics. According to CNN.com, Ashton Kutcher greeted, ” Everyone in airports that belong in my America, You are a part of the fabric of who we are, and we love you and we welcome you.” Julia Louis-Dreyfus stated, “Because I love this country, I am horrified by its blemishes. The Immigrants ban is a blemish and un-American.” Fans watch award shows to see their favorite actors and escape reality for a bit, but now actors are turning award shows into political debates.

The celebrities who share how they feel about our government and the president’s actions should be stated at appropriate events, not just every time they have a camera pointed at them. Our country is already greatly divided.  There are already riots and protests happening. Billions of people look up to these stars and if Madonna talks about blowing up the White House, some fans could actually take that into consideration. Most people are tired of hearing about politics and want to watch something that would take their mind of it. Watching their favorite star talk about politics is getting pretty tiring.
