CTE Class Confusion

CTE Class Confusion

Samantha Crowson, Reporter

There has been a lot of confusion over the course of this year, and it’s only been a month! Although the conference, parking, and ID situation may have been annoying, imagine being a freshman.

This year a new class was enforced by the district for freshmen called College and Career Investigation. It’s a CTE class with the original intent of helping to teach freshmen study skills with a good base foundation for their academic skills. Seems great and simple, but it could help a little if the teachers knew what they were expected to do. The district mandated this class, yet TUSD provided little to no guidance or lesson plans for the new curriculum.  “So far we haven’t learned anything, and all we have done is sit at the computers and make a video about ourselves…” said Freshman Nicholas Crowson.

“It was meant to introduce students to the CTE classes available here, but there isn’t a real plan,” explained Mr. Lundstrom in a recent interview. “All the teachers in the CTE department are kinda working together to teach the class and learn along the way.” The class is currently only available at Cholla and here at Sahuaro.
