Local News: Humane Society Upgrading

Sidney Moyers, Reporter

The Humane Society has been a proud part of our community for over 70 years. Being a no-kill shelter, it’s no surprise that they grew pretty quickly in popularity. Over the years though, their animal population has been getting bigger, so to compensate for the increasing amount of guests, they have decided to expand to a new location on 635 W Roger Rd. According to their website, their new location will include multiple animal-friendly additions including giant dog runs, multiple leash-less yards for the dogs to play, a walking path for the canines, indoor and outdoor cat habitats, solar covered parking, many plant life in the landscaping, and rainwater harvesting to benefit the environment.

I, as well as family and friends, have adopted pets from them and can always leave with the comforting knowledge that we are supporting a shelter that really cares about the well-being of their fluffy residents. To help them on their journey, you can adopt, donate and help by visiting one of their locations or contacting Diana Cannon.  She can be reached through her email [email protected] or by phone at (520)-321-3704.
