In President Donald Trump’s executive order on immigration, more than 100,000 visas have been revoked, says a government lawyer in Virginia court. The State Department disputed that number, stating that “fewer than 60,000 individuals’ visas were provisionally revoked to comply with the Executive Order.” The Executive Order was to suspend refugee resettlement and other admissions from seven largely Muslim populated countries. When asked about the number of visas at a Friday briefing, Sean Spicer, The White House spokesman said he “didn’t have all the details” and “would get back to the press when more information developed.”

People with visas or green cards were still sometimes detained, sent home, or were not allowed to board U.S. flights, while people raged outside of many international U.S. airports.

The issue with this is that the United States is restricting people from predominately Muslim countries from entering and restricting the ability to go back, hence the uprising in angry people who have had their visas taken. People who are protesting with them are people that find it equally unfair. Federal agencies have stopped enforcing the order, while Justice Department lawyers prepare to file a brief on the case today, February 6th.  The next hearing on the case is going to be held at the Federal District Court in Alexandria on Feb. 10. In this hearing, they intend to cover further action, as well as issues that need to be brought up and resolved. All that can happen at this point is that we wait for Feb. 10th, to see how this great debate is resolved.
