On February 10, 2017, a rollover happened on Interstate 10, propelling a woman out of her vehicle and killing her instantly. A 27 year-old-veteran of Department of Public Safety trooper pulled off at the car wreck on I-10 when suddenly, things took a bizarre turn. The suspected driver of the vehicle attacked the trooper, bashing the trooper’s head against the pavement. A Samaritan who was driving by, stopped on the side of the rode, asking the attacker to stop. He then headed back to his vehicle, pulled out his own gun, and shot the attacker in the head. After, the trooper was sent to the hospital. His injuries included damage in his upper chest and shoulder, but he is expected to recover.
