Do you have a lot of free time on your hands? Do you wish you could impact your community more, or explore your interests? If so, then you should consider doing volunteer work. Whether you want to do something long term, or just a short-term community project, there are many ways to get involved here in Tucson.

Habitat For Humanity Tucson

Habitat For Humanity is a group that builds houses for people who may not be able to afford housing. Volunteering for the organization is a great way to gain more community service hours. In order to be a volunteer, you must be 16 years or older. Volunteer opportunities includes actually building houses, customer service at the HabiStore (which sells home improvement materials and equipment to the public), or even helping specific families in getting a home through the group. The Pima County Teen Court has a variety of options to get involved. The court is an alternative for teens who don’t want want to go through the juvenile justice system. The two hospitals in the Carondelet Hospital Network (St. Joseph’s and St. Mary’s Hospitals) offer volunteering for high school students. As a volunteer, you get to direct patients, answer phone calls, file papers, and more. You must apply in order to become a volunteer.
