On October 12, Melania’s first interview, “Being Melania- The First Lady” aired. The interview took place during her tour across the African continent, where she visited Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, and Egypt.  Melania Trump stated that bullying is one of the issues she’s addressing as the First Lady. Melania Trump may be America’s most private first lady ever, but in her interview with ABC News’ Tom Llamas, she stated that she was on of the “most bullied” people in the world.

Born Melania Knauss in Slovenia in 1970, she worked as a fashion model in Italy and France before moving to New York in 1996, where she met her future husband. The First Lady told Llamas that she wished people would not comment on her clothing and instead focus on her initiatives. Melania plays the role as a woman who is more frequently discussed for what she wears, rather than what she does. “I could say that I am the most bullied person in the world, one of them, if you really see what people are saying about me, ” stated Melania in her interview. Her biggest lament: “It’s sad to see that organizations and foundations that I want to partner with choose not to because of the administration,” the first lady said. “And I feel they’re choosing the politics over helping others.”

What critics are saying about Melania, brought her to her main initiative, “Be Best” campaign. This campaign is to end bullying. It aims to teach young people to be kind to others. In her campaign, she reported, “We need to educate the children of social-emotional behavior, so when they grow up, they know how to deal with those issues. That’s very important.”

Recently, a model who is supposed to be Melania’s look alike starred in T.I.’s music video. The video takes place in a fake Oval office and has Melania’s look alike wearing the “I don’t care, Do U?” jacket. and stripping. Melania Trump fired back stating that she wore the jacket for “for the people and for the left-wing media who are criticizing me. I want to show them that I don’t care. You could criticize whatever you want to say, but it will not stop me to do what I feel is right.”  If a rapper made a video simulating Michelle Obama stripping, there would be a giant cry from Democrats about the rudeness of depicting a First Lady like that.  Even if people don’t like her husband, they shouldn’t take it out on his wife.

Despite all this, Trump said she hasn’t changed since uprooting her life in New York City and moving to the nation’s capital.

“I’m staying true to myself. I want to live [a] meaningful life, and that’s the most important to me. I know what my priorities are, and I’m focused on that,” she said.
