Jessica Luna, Associate-Editor-in-Chief

According to Greg Hanson, an outstanding sports writer for Arizona Daily Star, Sahuaro High School Senior Brielle Sterns has been named the 37th athlete out of the top 100 for Southern Arizona. She was an all-state caliber player in volleyball last season and this track star even placed first in the 100m hurdles, fourth in the 400m hurdles and second in long jump with an 18-4 3/4 jump. She has placed first in the 100m hurdles at State for three years in a row and holds the record for the 100m hurdles here at Sahuaro with a time of 14.35.

When asked about how placing in this list made her feel, she simply just said how proud of herself she was for working so hard and that her family too was very proud. She will continue dominating in track and volleyball at New Mexico State with a full ride scholarship. This girl is an outstanding and well known athlete and we’re very proud to call her a Sahuaro Cougar.
