In real life, Republican and Democrats can’t seem to agree on anything, constantly arguing, but most people would agree that hunting one group down to kill them is insane. How would people feel if a movie whose plot was hunting down the people who supported Trump and killed them were to come out? Even that sounds insane and Hollywood has taken the conflict to this level. “The Hunt” depicts a group of elites who hunt “deplorables” for sport. Fox News commentators have condemned it as “sick” and “awful.”  “The Hunt”,  starring Hillary Swank, Betty Gilpin, and Emma Roberts was supposed to come out on the 27th, of September of 2019, but it was canceled by Universal Studios.

President Trump made a tweet about the movie saying that, “it was made to inflame and cause chaos.”  The scheduled release was immediately following the mass shootings in both El Paso, and Dayton.

Universal Studios sated the following: WHILE UNIVERSAL PICTURES HAD ALREADY PAUSED THE MARKETING CAMPAIGN FOR THE HUNT, AFTER THOUGHTFUL CONSIDERATION, THE STUDIO HAS DECIDED TO CANCEL OUR PLANS TO RELEASE THE FILM. WE STAND BY OUR FILMMAKERS AND WILL CONTINUE TO DISTRIBUTE FILMS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH BOLD AND VISIONARY CREATORS, LIKE THOSE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SATIRICAL SOCIAL THRILLER, BUT WE UNDERSTAND THAT NOW IS NOT THE RIGHT TIME TO RELEASE THIS FILM.
