Percy Jackson and the Olympians is a fantasy book by author Rick Riordan. Disney recently adapted it into a new television series called Percy Jackson and the Olympians. The series is based on books and old movies about Percy Jackson. In the story, Percy Jackson is a demigod, the son of the mortal Sally Jackson and the Greek god Poseidon. Despite being born a demigod, Percy’s mom wanted to shelter him from dangerous monsters and the gods. However, Percy didn’t realize his true identity until he was a teenager. Percy Jackson must prevent the Titans, led by Kronos, from destroying the world. The story is full of twists and turns that have you on the edge of your seat, wondering what will happen next for the entirety of the series.

Viewers didn’t know what to expect from this TV show because the two Percy Jackson movies – made about 10 years ago – had fans feeling disappointed, ultimately leading to Percy Jackson 3 being canceled. Most viewers feel that the Disney series is a much more reliable adaptation of the books, unlike the old movie adaptations. The new series has garnered many positive reviews from online fans.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians Season 1 is an adaptation of the first book in the series, The Lightning Thief.  It was commercially successful but received mixed reviews from critics. Many people at least have heard of Greek mythology and the stories told, but this series catches the reader’s eye and gives a fun view of the belief.
