The 66th Annual Grammy Awards took place on February 4th and during the night, The Recording Academy honored and celebrated artists and their music released from October 1st, 2022, to September 15th, 2023. SZA had the most nominations of the night with 9, followed by Phoebe Bridgers and Victoria Monet with 7. The night was filled with musical performances, dancing, surprises, and, of course, awards, so let’s recap.

Hosted by Trevor Noah for the fourth year in a row, the program started with his signature corny jokes as he went around the room from table to table talking about all of the stars in the room. After his introduction, Dua Lipa opened the night as she sang a medley of her hit song Houdini and her brand new single Training Season. SZA followed after, singing a rendition of her hit songs Snooze and Kill Bill from SOS, an Album Of The Year nominee. Billie Eilish then sang What Was I Made For from the motion picture Barbie while her brother Finneas played the piano.

After that, the first award of the night was given out. The award was for Best Pop Solo Performance, and it was given to Miley Cyrus for her number one hit Flowers, which she later performed as she announced that that was her first Grammy.

Other performances included Olivia Rodrigo, who had 6 nominations, singing Vampire, Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs singing a duet of Fast Car, Joni Mitchell singing Both Sides, Now, and Billy Joel performing for the first time in 22 years, singing his new song Turn The Lights Back On.

As the performances went on, so did the awards. Billie Eilish won Song Of The Year for What Was I Made For, Victoria Monet won Best New Artist, Miley Cyrus won her 2nd Grammy in the category of Record of The Year for Flowers, and Tayor Swift won Best Pop Vocal Album for Midnights. During her acceptance speech for that Grammy win, Taylor also announced her brand new album called The Tortured Poets Department, which comes out on April 19th. American rapper Jay Z stepped on stage to accept the honor of the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award, and he made his acceptance speech with his daughter Blue Ivy on stage next to him and his wife Beyonce cheering him on from the crowd. The biggest award of the night, Album of The Year, was presented by Celine Dion to Taylor Swift for Midnights, and Swift made history by being the only person to ever win Album Of The Year at the Grammy’s 4 times.

It’s safe to say that women dominated the 66th Annual Grammy Awards. Phoebe Bridgers won the most awards of the night, going home with 4 Grammys. Miley Cyrus also had a big night, walking away with 2 Grammys, as SZA walked away with 3 Grammys, and Taylor Swift secured a historic win. Congratulations to all nominees and winners!
