Prey is the latest entry in the Predator franchise. Even though it is the seventh movie in the series, it can completely stand on it’s own since it takes place hundreds of years before the events of the other six. This makes the movie accessible for both veterans of the series and people who have never even heard of the Predator.

It has references to the other movies for the hardcore fans of the series, and they don’t feel out of place if you haven’t seen the previous installments. The cinematography is absolutely phenomenal with every shot looking like it was taken straight from a painting. Amber Midthunder who plays Naru, the main character, does any incredible job in the leading role and Dakota Beavers who plays Taabe, the main character’s brother, gives an amazing performance especially considering that it was his first screen performance.  The CGI animals look so good that, at first glance, you may not be able to tell that it’s CGI.  The new design of the predator is absolutely terrifying, and it’s cool to see a more primitive version of the creature using more primitive versions of its classic weapons along with some that we haven’t seen before.

Considering the last couple Predator movies are considered to be pretty bad, Prey feels like a breath of fresh air for a series that desperately needed it. Prey is currently being streamed on Hulu, so if you have a Hulu subscription you should definitely give it a watch. I cannot recommend it enough.
