Do you know of a male who is excessively emotional, suffers from cramps, is irritable, has trouble sleeping, or gets massive cravings occasionally? Well, you may know someone who suffers from IMS (Irritable Male Syndrome). Men with IMS experience similar symptoms as women do when they PMS. “As funny it all may sound, the ‘male period’ may be a very real, medically recognized phenomenon—albeit without the definitive monthly period bleed that women go through,” said Tim Teeman from Daily Beast.

Jed Diamond is a therapist and author of The Irritable Male Syndrome and he believes that, just like women, men have hormone cycles. He says that by the hour is when the real changes happen in a man’s emotional state. Normally, the word ‘hormonal’ associates with females and not males; but since men’s testosterone levels are higher in the morning and lower at night, Diamond believes that men can too be hormonal.

After reading the article on Daily Beast, I can see how some men could suffer from IMS. Most people would think it’s a joke, but there is science to back up the theory. Everyone has hormones. I believe that they affect all lives in the terms of having mood swings and strange hankerings.
