Nicki VS. Cardi

Nicki+VS.+Cardi

Nicki Minaj has sat on her throne as “The Queen of Rap” ever since the release of Pink Friday in 2010. The only reason Nicki Minaj was crowned is because of the fact that there were no other big female rappers at the time and there hasn’t been until 2017 with the release of “Bodak Yellow” by Cardi B. “Bodak Yellow” became the first song by a solo female rapper to reach #1 on Billboard Hot 100 since Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in November 1998, a span of almost 19 years. Nicki took to Twitter congratulating Cardi on her achievement and Cardi made sure to say thank her. So there clearly was a time of peace before all of this. The surprise drop of Nicki’s new singles: “Chun Li” and “Barbie Tingz”, exactly a week after Cardi B’s album, raised some eyebrows and got everyone spreading rumors that there were competition and upcoming beef between the two.

Both rappers publicly denounced the rumors with Cardi B telling Complex “I feel like people just want that drama because it’s entertaining” and Nicki Minaj addressed the “beef” rumors during a Twitter rant saying that the hip-hop community would only do this to female rappers (pin two female rappers together for entertainment) and urged everyone to let it go, which obviously never happened.

No one let it go and the tension between the two seemed to thicken up until the release of “Motorsport” by Migos featuring both Cardi and Nicki. For the both of them to work on a song together, they must’ve worked together which is what everyone thought until the drop of the “Motorsport” music video which made quite obvious that Nicki didn’t shoot the same day as the Migos and Cardi.

The constant calling out and petty drama went back and forth until it finally got physical during the annual Harper’s Bazaar ICONS party during New York Fashion Week.

Nicki Minaj reportedly liked comments regarding Cardi B’s parenting skills and ridiculed her 2-month-old baby, Kulture. These accusations aren’t surprising given the fact that Nicki blamed Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott’s 7-month-old baby, Stormi, for her album not making sales. After the release of Nicki’s album “Queen”, Travis and Kylie reportedly told fans that they could have a chance at meeting Stormi if they purchased “ASTROWORLD”. Nicki switched beefing up with Kylie and Travis and shifted her focus on to Cardi B.

Cardi caught the news about Nicki and aggressively approached Nicki at her crew table. Cardi B starts screaming at Nicki and guards of Nicki’s had to intervene. One of Nicki’s bodyguards elbowed Cardi B in the forehead and she was photographed leaving the party with a huge bump over her eyebrow pictured below:

As guards pulled Cardi away, ripping her dress in the back and hitting her in the face, she had time to take off one of her high heels and almost hit Nicki’s face. Eyewitnesses say that Nicki didn’t flinch once. All she did was back up to the wall, surround herself with bodyguards, and talk back since she knew she couldn’t fight. After being escorted out of the party, Cardi B and her publicist quickly put out a statement on all social media:

“I addressed you once in person, I addressed you a second time in person, and every time you copped the plea!! But when you mention my child, you choose to like comments about me as a mother, and make comments about my abilities to take care of my daughter is when all bets are ****ing off!!” the “I Like It” rapper, 25, wrote.

On her radio show Queen Radio, Nicki played innocent and responded: “It’s all lies, I would never ridicule anyone’s child. [It’s] so sad for someone to pin that on somebody. … I would never talk about anyone’s child or parenting. … These lies are ridiculous.”

Nicki also addressed Cardi B directly saying: “You call black women roaches. Real b****es never attack a woman. You’re angry and you’re sad. This is not funny.  This woman’s at the highest point in her career and she’s throwing shoes?”
