Top 5 Reasons Why Fall is the Best Season

Sierra Blaser, Reporter

The season of warm colors and spiced drinks is returning once again ladies and gents. In other words, the best season is finally arriving. While many grieve the end of a warm, free summer, I always look forward to the cool weather full of pumpkin spice and seasonal cheer. Fall is filled with fun activities to partake in and festive holidays to enjoy. With that being said, here are my top 5 reasons on why fall is the best season of the year.

Prized Pumpkin Patches: If you and your friends ever get bored one weekend, there is always a field full of pumpkins and hay nearby. Whether you’re getting lost (and found…then lost again) in a corn maze, taking a hayride, or picking a pumpkin to decorate, pumpkin patches always make for a fun time.

The Holidays: Now I know what you’re thinking, “Why would I enjoy Thanksgiving? It’s just a dinner full of criticisms and political arguments.” To that I say: focus on the food? Even with this minor flaw, the season makes up for it by having the best holiday ever, Halloween. Sure, Christmas is pretty great too, but the night full of laughs and nostalgia is one of the only times of year you can dress up and become whatever you want to be. You can watch classic movies like Hocus Pocus and Casper, go trick-or-treating, or throw a Halloween party. There is always something fun to do on Allhallows Eve.

The Food Is Mouthwatering: As the ground becomes filled with crisp leaves and the air with musky scents, favorite seasonal foods begin to make a reappearance. Fall is full of pumpkin spice, apple cider, and cinnamon flavored items as well as warm foods like soups and casseroles. Delicious pies take over the kitchen as warm muffins fill local coffee shops. The list of foods is endless, and we relish in every bite.

The Chilly Weather: Let’s be real, here in Tucson we look forward to any day that has a high of 80 degrees or lower. After September, the cool breeze makes an entrance as do the warm colored leaves that can turn every tree into an instagram worthy picture. It’s the perfect time of year to sip on a cup of apple cider, read your favorite novel, and sit by the warm fireside. Take a break from the blazing summer heat and enjoy the cool autumn weather.

The Fashion Is the Best: I’ll be the first person to admit that I’m biased on this one. I believe that there is nothing better than wearing some cute chunky boots, warm sweaters, and fuzzy socks. This year especially there seems to be a bit of a 70’s revival taking over the season’s fashion trends. Corduroy jackets and colorful flared jeans are back for another round, and we can’t get enough. Fall clothing truly is the best clothing.

There are hundreds of reasons why Fall is the superior season, but if I went into detail for all of them we’d be here all day. It’s time to start getting those jackets and scarves out, because Fall is back on September 22nd.
