DONDA

DONDA

On August 29, 2021, Kanye West dropped a new album called “Donda” as a tribute for his mother. Donda West was born July 12, 1949 and passed away November 20, 2007. The cause of death was ruled as heart failure the day after she got cosmetic procedures done such as boob reduction, tummy tuck, and liposuction. She was immediately confirmed dead in the emergency room. She was known to be Kanye’s “momager”, joining her son on his awards shows and parties and was former chairman English director in Chicago. After his mom’s death, Kanye blamed himself for her death because, “If I never moved to LA, she’d be alive,” he said in an interview in 2015 with Q magazine.  He is trying to forgive and not hate on the surgeon. In her time of being alive, she wrote 2 books on how it was raising Kanye and another one about her studies and theories with system theories.

The first track is called “Donda Chant” and it’s his mother’s name continuously being chanted, but in the rhythm of her heartbeat before she passed away.  It was chanted 58 times because that was how old she was. This album is his 50th one and his most emotional. Kanye West partnered up with Apple Music and let his fans watch several live streams of him in one of the rooms of the Mercedez Benz stadium that he rented our for days. The livestreams included him working out, sleeping, and recording vocals.  He broke the streaming record.  Kanye had crazy listening parties where fans could come and watch. If you want to see , you can either go on Youtube or go on Apple Music to see, I definitely recommend. it. In my personal opinion of this 27 track album, my favorite tracks were Jesus Lord pt 2, Heaven and Hell, Off The Grid, and Moon. I recommend this album highly to everyone if you like emotional music and is now streaming on all music platforms.
