Brett Farve is a 52-year-old hall of fame quarterback who played for the Falcons, Packers, Jets, and Vikings. From 1995 to 1997  he was named MVP three times, also receiving 11 Pro Bowls and 3 first-team All-Pro selections. He’s played 297 consecutive games, 6,300 completions, 508 touchdowns, and 71,838 yards in his NFL career. However, recently Farve has been all over the news for allegedly stealing millions from a welfare fund in Mississippi.

The state of Mississippi has filed a civil lawsuit accusing Farve of misusing millions of dollars of welfare funds. “Farve is one of many well-connected people who allegedly took welfare money in exchange for making an empty promise to help people in need,” said in an article from Desert News. Text messages have even been leaked showing Brett Farve involved in efforts to use the welfare money to improve sports facilities at USM. Brett Farve has repaid some of the money that he was accused of using, but he has not fully admitted to manipulating welfare funds. When he repaid $500,000, Farve claimed he didn’t know the money was coming from those funds. In total, almost $100 million of welfare funds were spent in the last several years. The people who were accused of stealing the money aren’t facing jail time. The state is only requesting that the money that was taken, be repaid.
