SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA – 2023/02/09: People watch a television screen showing a news broadcast with an image of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un (L) and his daughter presumed to be named Ju-ae (R) attending a military parade held in Pyongyang to mark the 75th founding anniversary of its armed forces, at Yongsan railway station in Seoul. North Korea has staged a massive military parade in Pyongyang to mark the 75th founding anniversary of its armed forces, its state media confirmed on February 9, describing intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) on display as representing the country’s “maximum nuclear attack capabilities.” Its leader Kim Jong-un attended the nighttime event, held February 8, along with his wife, Ri Sol-ju, and apparent second child, Ju-ae, according to the North’s official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA). Kim Jong-Un has been the Supreme Leader of North Korea since 2011.  When the founder, Kim II Sung passed in 1994, his son Kim Jong II took control – and when Kim Jong II died, in December 2011, his son Kim Jong-Un came to power. There are many secrets and untold facts about North Korea, so staying informed about what is happening in that country is important. Kim Jong-Un chooses when and how he tells the public personal information about the state of the country. For example, Kim Jong-Un’s daughter was revealed last year in 2022 to the public. She is 9 years old and her name is Kim Ju-Ae. Until now no one knew he had kids. According to South Korean intelligence officials, Kim Ju-Ae is thought to be the second child of Kim Jong-Un and Ri Sol Ju, along with their other two children.

Kim Jong-Un has been showing his military power lately with his daughter coming to all nuclear power events. The Kim family will rule North Korea for another generation and they have nuclear weapons to make sure no one can challenge the family. The idea of Kim’s daughter being the successor emerged last November when state media released pictures of her and Kim inspecting North Korean ballistic missiles. Kim Jong-Un wants full control of his daughter’s actions if ever she succeeds him; that is the main reason he had both his uncle and his half-brother murdered – because he felt they were a threat.

Ju-Ae could potentially be “the chosen one” for a future succession ahead of her older brother and one younger sibling, but obviously cannot simply take over if her father can no longer rule. Kim Jong-Un still has a sister who is a potential successor who is rumored to be even more ruthless and even more deadly than Kim Jong-Un. However, Kim Ju-Ae appeared with him in public at least four times to test ballistic missiles so her future successorship is still very active.
