An Interesting Turn of Events: Sahuaro Girls’ Volleyball Game at Buena

An+Interesting+Turn+of+Events%3A+Sahuaro+Girls+Volleyball+Game+at+Buena

On Wednesday, September 6th, the Sahuaro Girls’ volleyball team went to Buena; unfortunately, it was the varsity team’s first official loss. The girls could have won that game, but their heads and hearts weren’t on the volleyball court. The girl lost each set; the first set was 20-25, the second set was 12-25, and the last set was 11-25. In the first set of the game, they kept letting simple balls drop in serve receive when they could have gotten them back up and in play. When they lost the first set the momentum from previous games that were played went away and everyone started getting in their heads.

Keeping up communication and energy on the court is very much needed because that can go a long way for the players. The second set of the Buena game for the varsity team was not acceptable at all because the players let a vast gap come between them. Izzy Richey, a senior that plays right side on varsity said, “I think we could’ve done better. We were just off and not really in the game and messing up a lot in that set.” They let the first set get to them and didn’t work as a team towards the end of the second set.

It is all the same with the third set, they didn’t get out of their heads and kept messing up. Gianna Buxenbaum, a junior and our setter on varsity said, “I feel like all of us didn’t put in our best effort, so it wasn’t our best game and there is room to improve.” If they improve the way their face looks on the court, body language will change as well. When playing volleyball it is supposed to be fun, but winning the game with your team is much more fun.
