TUSD Regulations for COVID Isolation and Quarantine

TUSD Employees and families:
The TUSD Governing Board on Tuesday, 1/11/22, adjusted the TUSD regulation for COVID isolation and Quarantine. The updated information is listed below.
Pima County Health Department (PCHD) strongly recommends that individuals who have COVID-19, or who have been exposed to COVID-19 through close contact with a COVID-19 case, stay home and away from others. Symptoms of COVID-19 can be mild, and it is possible for individuals without any symptoms to unknowingly spread the highly contagious disease. PCHD strongly recommends wearing a mask (preferable N95 or KN95) indoors in public regardless of vaccination status.
1) If you test positive for COVID-19 (Isolate) — applies to everyone, regardless of vaccination Status:
- Stay home for 5 days.
- If you have no symptoms, or your symptoms are resolving after 5 days, you can leave your house.
- Continue to wear a mask for 5 additional days.
- Reminder: TUSD requires face coverings be worn at all times while on TUSD property.
- If you have a fever, continue to stay home until fever-free for 24 hours.
2) If you were exposed (considered a close contact) to someone with COVID-19 (Quarantine)
A. If you have been boosted OR completed the primary series of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine within the past 6 months OR completed the primary series of J&J vaccine within the past 2 months:
- You do not need to Quarantine
- Wear a mask around others for 10 days.
- Reminder: TUSD requires face coverings be worn at all times while on TUSD property.
- If possible, Test on day 5.
- If you develop symptoms, get a test and stay home.
B. If you are Unvaccinated, OR are not boosted, and completed the primary series of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine more than 6 months ago OR are not boosted and completed the primary series of J&J over 2 months ago:
- Stay home for 5 days. After that continue to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days.
- Reminder: TUSD requires face coverings be worn at all times while on TUSD property.
- If possible, Test on day 5.
- If you develop symptoms get a test and stay home. If a Positive test result, follow the guidance above for Positive COVID test.
*If possible, before returning to work/school, take a Covid Antigen test to ensure you are negative.
3) If you have COVID symptoms:
- Stay home.
- You must show proof of a Negative COVID test OR obtain a medical provider’s note stating that you may return to work/school.
- AND Symptoms have diminished and you remain fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.
- If you have a Positive test result, follow the guidance above for Positive COVID test.

Volunteers will either need to be vaccinated or show proof of a negative Covid test from within the last seven days before coming to school.
