As a senior in high school, Lelu Morong is very out-of-the-box and is known by many people throughout all grades. In the opportunity of speaking to Lelu about her recent journey on TikTok she, “originally made the account to make fun of other people.” For those of you who have no idea what the heck TikTok is, it’s an app you can download on Apple and Android products to make short videos of lip-syncing, comedy, and talents. The app was lunched in 2017 to markets outside of China and just recently blew up in 2019.

“I thought TikTok was very stupid. I considered it a meme pretty much,” Lelu said, but she thought about making a video just as a “joke”. That one video led to another to another and little did she know that one “joke” would turn into 80,000 followers on TikTok and over 15,000 followers on Instagram. She was also featured on all of TikTok’s social medias to promote the app. After hearing all of that it was just right to ask, “Are you at least having fun?” From starting off as a joke and just “straight boredom” she began to enjoy it, making lots of new friends and being given so many opportunities. From getting paid, to do live streams, and staying constant on the app to getting free merch, she’s also been able to have conversations with popular creators such as Bella Thorne. With the number of followers Lelu has, it had the effect of making her comments on other public figures pictures at the very top. After commenting on one of Belle Thorne’s pictures she REPLIED and they had a little chit chat in the comments of her picture.

Before TikTok, Lelu started a YouTube account and posted vlogs, Q&A’s, and mukbangs. She also had gained some followers on her channel, but not as many as on Instagram and TikTok. Her channel is called Lelu Morong, she puts just as much effort into her videos as she does in her TikToks.
