Happiness Objectified

  • I TESTED NEGATIVE FOR COVID THANK GOD. Time to buy myself something expensive to celebrate. My dad got it over Christmas, which was definitely one of the most stressful weeks of my life, and I got plenty of stress-induced pimples as a result. Luckily everyone else in my family tested negative after two weeks of quarantining and we’re all okay now. I need COVID to be exterminated indefinitely and fast; she’s overstayed her welcome.

  • The current love of my life is my food-obsessed, cuddly, attention seeking dog, Angus. I couldn’t tell you how much he actually loves me considering he is only near me when I have food or force him to sit with me, but I like to think I’m his favorite and not my mom. He’s a Shih Tzu and just turned 8 years old, and still 8 years later, he likes to paw at your face until you let him crawl under the blanket and curl into your lap.

  • Ketchup is simply the greatest condiment in the world, and I would even go as far as saying it’s my favorite food. I receive hostile backlash for this statement almost daily, but frankly, I could care less. The extra flavor ketchup adds to every meal is truly unmatched, and it goes far beyond than just burgers and fries. Have you ever tried ketchup on tacos?

  • Assuming every single person on planet earth knows what Netflix is, it’s an everyday dose of happiness for me. Over the past few months, my dad and I finished The Boys, The People vs. OJ Simpson, Cheer, The Queen’s Gambit, and The Last Kingdom. We’re currently on the 2nd season of Narcos — a show about the infamous Pablo Escobar and Medellín Cartel.

  • My crippling shopping addiction has severely worsened over this traumatic year. In a desperate attempt to “fill a void” during quarantine, online shopping is an activity I engage in regularly. The mere thought of expecting something in the mail brings me pure joy, and I can’t stress this fact enough. This picture is the shipping status of the new poster I bought on Depop just earlier this week, and I also bought a new phone case too that has since arrived. It’s perfect.

  • With concerts still up in the air, the only thing that gives me a constant influx of serotonin are the BTS tickets that are currently collecting dust in my Ticketmaster account. Originally scheduled for the first week of May 2020, Krystal and I were ecstatic to finally see Jung Kook and V in the flesh, only for the concerts to be immediately postponed to an undetermined date. While the postponement is one of the worst things that’s ever happened to me, the tickets are a consistent reminder of what will eventually be.

  • After he blew up on Tik Tok this summer, I started religiously watching Skincare By Hyram on Youtube. I’ve always struggled with my skin, and after watching his videos, he motivated me to take skincare more seriously, buy better products and wear tons of SPF. So now I’m brutally obsessed with buying different cleansers and serums, all “Hyram Approved” of course.

  • One of the longest withstanding hobbies in my life has been playing the piano, going on 9 years now. I think what makes it even more enjoyable for me is seeing my piano teacher, Mrs. Bev, who is someone I’d consider family. She’s a constant source of love and motivation, and if it wasn’t for her, I would’ve quit already. I’m currently working on a Chopin piece called “Nocturne” and I just started one called “Salut d’Amour” by Elgar.

  • As of January 5th 2021, I impulsively decided that one of my New Year’s Resolutions was to start cooking more. I have never been a poultry master, or any type of master as a matter of fact, and that needs to change. So as you can see, my first challenge was a grilled cheese with bacon, and to say it went horribly wrong would be an understatement. But despite the first failure, practice only makes perfect.

  • I asked for “Chamberlain Coffee” for Christmas, owned by the one and only Emma Chamberlain, my favorite Youtuber. I’ve never been a coffee drinker in the past, but I really wanted to try this to support her, and I’m quite pleased with the results. Granted, I add A LOT of creamer because black coffee is seriously vile, but still. I really like it. I’m trying to become one of those people that cannot operate without having their morning cup of caffeine.
