Lesson 1- Wear what you want

Styles is someone who isn’t afraid to step out of the box especially when it comes to fashion.  Recently he has been breaking social norms by wearing extreme bellbottoms, flamboyant accents, chunky necklaces/pearls, and bright nail polish.  He also wore a dress for the cover of Vogue magazine last year. He has always been the type to express himself through fashion while doing it in an unapologetic way. He has been and a huge help in my discovery of finding who I am as a person and being comfortable expressing myself through fashion.

Lesson 2- Treat People With Kindness

Styles is a gentle and extremely responsible person. He spreads his message of kindness in everything he does. He has a huge single, titled “Treat people with kindness” where he says people are people and everyone deserves to be treated with respect and love.  He’s emblazoned his merchandise with this motto and the abbreviation “TPWK”. He’s been an outspoken advocate for charities supporting water availability and conservation, gender equality, lgbtq+ issues, black lives matter, and many more. In 2016 he donated his long hair for a charity that provides wigs to kids with cancer. He practices kindness in his own personal life, too. He has never said a single bad word about any of his past relationships (even though his ex’s have written multiple songs about him). He is always positive and respectful to everyone.

Lesson 3- Family is everything

You don’t have to be a huge fan of Harry to know that family is very important to him. Harry is a huge ‘mamas’ boy and has a very close bond with his sister, Gemma Styles.  He has also has a great relationship with his father. Even though Harry is the youngest sibling that doesn’t stop him from being overprotective about his sister and her relationships. It is known that in 2015 when he was on tour with his band, One Direction, he stopped singing in the middle of a song to say, “sorry if I seem a little distracted, but my sister is on a date and I’m trying to keep an eye on them both.” Harry has numerous tattoos dedicated to his family, the people he cherishes the most. He has a “g” and an “a” tattooed on his collarbone for his sister Gemma and his mother Anne.  He also has “1957” and “1967” to represent the birth year of his father and mother.

Lesson 4- Patience

Harry released his latest album “Fine Line” sometime in 2019. Like most artists, a new album means a world tour! Of course with me being absolutely totally in love with him I just had to get tickets. But sadly Covid-happened and the tour was rescheduled multiple times. I was devastated every time it was rescheduled.  But now, thanks to mask mandates and a vaccine against the virus, he is back on tour.  I am so excited because I am finally seeing my biggest inspiration live on tour in Phoenix, Arizona on November 13th.  I’ve waited 2 years to see him and the day is finally coming.

Lesson 5- Taking time for myself

Harry has always been the type of person to keep to himself and not talk much about his own personal life. He keeps his personal life personal.  In 2017 harry had taken a trip to Jamaica to just get away from the big celebrity lifestyle and while he was there he ended up writing his first solo album HS1. He did the same thing with his newest album, Fine Line.  He took a trip to Japan to write this one.

Lesson 6- Love can come in many forms

Harry has always dated older women. In the past, he has dated celebrities like Kendall Jenner, Taylor Swift,  and the usual Victoria Secret models.  He dated a British TV presenter who was 14 years older than he was and Nicole Scherzinger who was 16 years older. He has been very upfront about not labeling his sexuality.  Recently he has been seen with actor/director Olivia Wilde who is 10 years older.  Love is love and you can love anyone!

Lesson 7- Don’t be afraid to try new things

Not only is Harry Styles an amazing talented handsome kind-hearted human being but he is also multi-talented. After being in the worldwide famous boy band, One Direction, Harry then proceeded with his solo career.  He released two albums which had great hits, “Sign of the Times”, “Watermelon Sugar”, “Adore You”, and “Golden”. Harry has also done acting. In 2017, he made his acting debut in the award-winning movie Dunkirk.  Sometime next year, Harry will be staring in a‘50s era thriller, Don’t Worry Darling.

Lesson 8-  Say what you need to say

There is a very powerful lyric in one of Harry’s songs, titled “From the Dining Table”.  The lyric he sings is “comfortable silence is so overrated”. Which is basically saying that whatever you need to say just say it. It’s not good for your mental health to keep all your feelings bottled up.  Never be afraid to show your vulnerable side.   Don’t stay silent, speak your truth.

Lesson 9 –  Mediation is good self-care

Self-care is important and meditating is a great tool.  Harry stated in the December 2020 Vogue magazine that “meditation has changed my life but it’s so subtle. It helped me just be more present. Meditation just brings a stillness that has been really beneficial, I think for my mental health”.  I’ve followed in his footsteps and I have started mediation practices now and I can 100% say that it has been beneficial for me and my mental health. I’ve seen that my patience has increased dealing with everyday issues and that my bonds with special, important people have grown.

Lesson 10-  healthy eating

Harry has been a pescatarian for three years. He says “my body definitely feels better for it”. I myself have been a vegetarian for over two years now and though it may be a short time I can agree with Harry and say that my body definitely feels better.  I feel good when I pass by the meat section in a grocery store and know that I am not taking part in something that is so cruel. The main reason is that I feel better.  My mind and my body are better because I eat better.
