Cougar Foundation Scholarship Deadlines Coming Up

Seniors! Scholarship season is coming to an end, but there’s still time to get your applications in for Cougar Foundation grants and scholarships. The Sahuaro High School Cougar Foundation gives a number of these awards to Sahuaro Students that can be used for post-high school education.

The Cougar Foundation’s mission statement reads, “The purpose of the Sahuaro Cougar Foundation is: to perpetuate the history, traditions, and spirit of Sahuaro High School; to support the activities of its students and staff; to provide services to the Alumni; to invoke a system of honors and awards that recognize the achievements of the students, staff, and alumni.” The website has a wide variety of scholarships to help as many students as possible. Some of the scholarships still open are:

Cougar Foundation Red and Blue Scholarship (3.5+ GPA): The Cougar Foundation Red and Blue Scholarship will provide three $1200 scholarships to deserving Sahuaro seniors to be used for post-high school education.

Cougar Foundation Senior Scholarship (2.5 – 3.49 GPA): The Cougar Foundation Senior Scholarship will provide one $1200 scholarship, for a deserving Sahuaro senior to be used for post-high school education.

The Dr. & Mrs. Mark R. Cavanaugh $5000 Pre-med Athlete Scholarship: Generously offered to Sahuaro High School seniors by Houston, Texas residents Dr. & Mrs. Mark R. Cavanaugh. Awarded to a senior planning to enroll in college with a pre-med focus.

Cougar Pride $2500 Scholarship (2 available): The Cougar Pride $2500 scholarships are awarded to seniors who plan to enroll in college and who have participated in one or more sports representing Sahuaro. Consideration will also be given to applicants who have overcome hardships in order to achieve academic and athletic success. Two awards are available for $2500 each.

Ann Grose Memorial Scholarship: A minimum of one, non-renewable, $1,000 scholarship will be awarded each year, and the funds may be applied to any accredited college or university in the United States. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate student leadership participation/skills and are pursuing a 4-year degree.

Dick McConnell Memorial Scholarship: In honor of Coach McConnell’s 774 career victories, the Cougar Foundation is proud to announce an annual scholarship in his name. The Dick McConnell Memorial Scholarship will be a one-time, non-renewable scholarship awarded to a deserving Sahuaro senior in the amount of $774 dollars.

Diane Small Perseverance Scholarship: A $1000 scholarship awarded to a deserving Sahuaro Senior who was raised in a single-parent household for at least a portion of their childhood.
